Miami Dolphins: Offseason Master Plan - Coming Soon

dolphins Miami Dolphins: Offseason Master Plan Coming SoonMIAMI DOLPHINS - The Making of a Dynasty

The amazing season by the Miami Dolphins ended in a blaze of glory last Sunday.   Chad Pennington's heroic year crashed and burned in a collision against the Baltimore Ravens.   Despite tying the record for the largest single-season turnaround in NFL history, the Miami Dolphins still have concerns that must be addressed for Miami to maintain its status as AFC East Champions.

"Bill's going to stay,"  Huizenga said after the Dolphins' 27-9 loss to Baltimore.

"He told me [Friday] he's going to stay."

Obviously, losing Bill Parcells would be a big blow,  but I'm very confident in the two critical pieces we DO have here in GM Jeff Ireland and HC Tony Sporano.  They will be more than enough to see this restoration project thru IF Bill hightails it out of here.

I will be taking a deeper look into the offseason schedule for the Miami Dolphins, including the NFL Draft, Free Agency, Coaching changes,  Training Camp battles,  projected depth charts and of course, the QB situation.

Chad vs Chad will be a featured column on what Miami should plan this year regarding the QB position.  Ideally,  the Dolphins should have an open training camp battle for the starting QB spot,  and at the very least, Chad Henne must get playing time next year.  I feel that Pennington should be kept on as a backup QB/mentor to Henne for the next 2-3 years AND be groomed for a coaching positon within the Miami Dolphins' organization.  Current QB coach D. Lee will probably field offers for better positions in the coming years and OC  D. Henning could retire soon.   This would make all the more sense to keep Pennington to mentor Henne for the next 2 yrs, then start him as a QB coach, and he could eventually move up to OC, Assistant HC, and even HC way down the road if/when HC Tony Sporano decides to ride off into the sunset.   Chad Pennington's work ethic, intelligence, football mind, and passion are excellent qualities that will serve him well as a coach in the NFL.  This is why Miami must recognize this and initiate him into their own coaching ranks.

CHAD HENNE - Pennington's Apprentice

I have seen enough of Chad Henne to believe that he can be our answer at QB.  Of the three important attributes for a starting QB, I know that he has two of them,  his toughness and his strong arm.  The third skill, his intelligence, remains to be seen and is something we will only find out when he gets game experience.  Chad Henne will provide improve the WR position as well.  Ted Ginn's game is the deep ball game which Henne can compliment well.  Davone Bess will also have more space to maneuver after receptions because of Henne's rocket arm.  Now, does Henne have a lot to learn?  Hell yes!  And that's why we have Pennington, the perfect mentor.  I will be getting into this particular topic in detail very soon.

Whether its the NFL, Dolphin football, the university of Miami football, the NBA,  Fantasy football and basketball, or anything else in the sports realm,  I hope to your thoughts and opinions.  And to fellow Dolphin fans, this is a great time to be alive!
