Arsenal Thoughts

Arsenal has been disappointing to say the least lately. Looking back to the beginning of the season, I had high hopes. We bought Samir Nasri who I still think is a rich man’s Alex Hleb but he failed to make the impact I longed for.

Can he contribute to a winning season?

I personally think our chances of winning the league are dire and the only way this season can be turned around is if we can somehow win the champions league. I could care less for the F.A. cup because it will never raise Arsenal’s reputation on the world’s stage. As a gooner, I believe Arsenal deserves to be called one of the biggest clubs in the world but as a realist, I can only dream of the thought. I love The Arsenal Way to death but if it continues to make a mockery of the team that was once called the invincibles, then maybe it should be scrapped. I would love to win with kids rather than old and overpaid men but I guess in this world where business rules sport, we have no choice.

Next game is home to Bolton, and contrary to the division of talent, its going to be a pretty hard game to win. A win is a must, draws and losses can no longer exist. We all knew we would be without Fabregas but like always, more injuries creep up. Gallas and Silvestre are going to be out for 3 long weeks adding to the already inflated injury list. Wenger is likely to play Toure alongside Djourou in the heart of the defense; hopefully this is what he needs to bring his spirits back up. I think we have a good chance of winning this game but in order to do so, we are going to need some players to step up. With Fabregas gone, we lack a sense of creativity which is vital to our game. Let’s get that win.

In other news, Barcelona has been reported to have interest not only in Fabregas but also in Robin van Persie. When will it end? This is only speculation but you never know, let’s hope it stays a rumor and nothing more.

Persie is arguably our most talented player and not many could replace the amount of talent he brings on to the pitch.

I chose to concentrate on Arsenal with my first blog post, but I decided to branch of into more sports and teams in the coming days. I hope you guys enjoyed my first one and are looking forward to many more.
